Baby Allison- 21 Weeks!

How Big is Allison? About the size of a pomegranant. When we went for our anatomy scan the Wed. before last she was measuring a week behind, but not to worry, she will probably just be a smaller babe! As long as she’s healthy that’s fine by me! She is about 9.5-10.5 inches long and about 10-13 oz. Specific growth and size is getting a little harder to tell because every baby grows differently.

Major changes occurring?

Not too many major changes are occuring, baby is just getting bigger and stronger with every passing day. Allison is moving like crazy though! I love being able to feel her “pop-lock-and-drop” me! 🙂 I also love knowing that I get to take her with me wherever I go. I can’t wait until she’s big enough for Charles to feel her kick…hopefully that won’t be too much longer.

As her digestive system preps for the outside world, she’s manufacturing meconium — the tarry black substance Charles will find in her first dirty diaper (ew)! Yes you read that right, Charles will get to change her first diaper. lol

Allison also already has a lifetime’s supply of eggs in her womb — about six million of them! By the time she is born though only 2 million will remain, that’s still WAY more than she will ever need!

Since I haven’t posted in a while here are somethings that over the past 5 weeks she has learned to do.

She is swallowing/inhaling more amniotic fluid every day- prepping for the outside world. She also has her very own fingerprints and is developing her sense of touch. Her tastebuds have also formed and so she taste things now! 🙂 She’s going to come out liking mexican food (chips and salsa)…I hope!

Hopefully I’ll remember to put up a new post next week! Until then Merry Christmas from the Darby’s!
